As children we begin to imagine that we will grow up, that we will buy, where we will travel, etc. etc. etc .. Yes! From childhood we begin to form our "life project" where the goal is to achieve self-realization.
According to the Maslow pyramid of needs, we find that in order to achieve self-realization, we must first satisfy the following needs in the following order:
Basic physiological needs: to maintain health.
Security needs: the need for the person to feel safe and protected.
Of belonging and affection: affective development of the individual.
Esteem or recognition: being recognized for what you do.
And finally when all the previous levels have been reached and completed, the fifth and last level of the Maslow pyramid is reached.
Self-realization: through their personal satisfaction, they find meaning in life by developing their potential in an activity.
This pyramid of needs elaborated by Maslow is very complete, however, it lacks an aspect that is very important and that is found in everything but is not mentioned because perhaps Maslow did not think about it and it is the environmental aspect. That is why most of the entrepreneurs who own all kinds of factories now believe that they came to fruition because they completed all levels of Maslow's hierarchy, however now we suffer from global warming.
On the other hand, some authors speak that to carry out a life project the following aspects must be met or covered:
Academic Economic Personal Family Spiritual Affective
And most of the people based on them carry out their life projects, however, we are leaving aside a very important aspect that we never think about or include in our life project and that is the "Environmental" aspect that is and will be simple. part of our life.
First of all we must be less selfish and stop thinking only of ourselves since the planet has given us everything and we have only concentrated on exploiting all resources to the maximum. That is why it is necessary to carry out complete life projects where the balance between man and the environment is sought and not only destruction and personal benefit.
So then, if an adequate environmental education were taken from children, our attitude would be different and we would include in our life project aspects that instead of destroying contribute to environmental stability that benefits us all. And so we would no longer think that I want to study architecture and build many houses to earn a lot of money, have a family with three children and be very happy. But maybe now we would think about studying architecture and building ecological houses for the well-being of man and the environment and maybe planting a tree when my children are born. It may sound fanciful but if you tweak it more thoroughly this may be real world. For lifestyle you can read more blog post from our Sunday Best Blog.
It is about living not destroying and there are many ways to live without destroying we just need to see them.
